Silver fork by the silversmith L. Potmans (De Bree, 441) from Middelburg. Made in 1773.
From around 1755, Potmans worked first as an apprentice to Johan Alders and later as an apprentice to Jacobus Adriaan Blaauwbeen.
Hallmarked with the city hallmark of Middelburg including the year letter K for 1773 and the master hallmark LP with a male figure in between.
Silver from Middelburg is no longer common due to the large compulsory surrender campaign during the Batavian Republic (1795)
The fork (especially the tines) are in used condition. See also the photos.
The fork also has restoration marks on the back of the handle.
