Silver fish slice made by the silversmith Jan George Grebe Jr. from Rotterdam. He was active from 1820 to 1862.

The fish slice is beautifully designed with a sawn bowl. The handle is made of wood.

The slice is marked with the second fineness mark, master's mark JG +G, year letter F for 1840, and the Minerva head D for Rotterdam.

Jean George Grebe Junior produced silver tableware and implements during his active period, such as: inkstands, dinnerware, tobacco boxes, bowls, and serving spoons. He made a silver book cover for the Steigerse Kerk in Rotterdam, which is part of the Museum Rotterdam collection.

In 1851, he participated in the World Exhibition in London, and in 1853-1854, in the Exhibition of the Industry of All Nations in New York. At the latter, he won a silver medal for his "masterfully crafted silver cup." He exhibited this cup the following year (1855) at the Exposition Universelle in Paris.

The slice is in good condition.

Weight: 142 grams. Length: 35.5 cm.
