Silver fish slice, made by the silversmith Jan Coolhaas from Utrecht. He was active from 1747 to 1766.

Jan Coolhaas was baptised on March 23, 1727, in the Buurkerk. In 1740, he became an apprentice to his father, and in 1747, he became a master silversmith. He, too, subsequently trained several apprentices in the trade. On July 10, 1766, he died as an adult bachelor, or unmarried. He worked until his death in the building on the Donkere Gaard.

The fish slice is hallmarked with the city mark of Utrecht for first-grade silver, master's mark 'Haas die uit een kool springt met kroon' (Hare jumping out of a cabbage with a crown) and year letter C for 1762.

The hand-sawn fish slice is in good condition.

Weight: 205.5 grams. Length: 36.5 cm.
