18th century silver coat hook made by the silversmith Gerrit van Goethem from Middelburg, active from 1775 to 1819 with a velvet bag with silver parrot bracket, made in Schoonhoven by the silversmith C. Rozenburg. He used this hallmark from 1812 to 1816.
The bag hook is also provided with a parrot and marked with the master mark VG under an anvil used by Gerrit van Goethem. He was born in 1747 and died in 1830. He mainly made trouser buttons, Bible fittings, knives and bag brackets. Also marked with the city mark of Middelburg and year letter Y for 1798 and tax mark B.
The bracket is marked with the master mark CR, French Rooster 2 for 2nd grade silver (mark from the French period) and the Minerva head.
The velvet bag is embroidered with flowers. The initials JJ are on the bag hook
The bracket bag is in good condition.
