Silver purse clasp with beaded purse made by the firm Georg Roth & Co from Hanau. Active from 1891 to 1919.
The bag handle depicts the Biblical parable of the prodigal son. He asks for his father's inheritance, leaves for a far country, where he spends a party. He ends up penniless among the pigs, returns home and asks his father for forgiveness.
The bag hook depicts a female figure with an anchor (hope) and a bird (trust).
The silver bracket is marked with pseudo-marks, crowned A, crowned P, crowned fleur de I, all belonging to Georg Roth.
A beautiful example of driving work from Germany.
The skirt hook has traces of restoration.
Weight: 343 grams. Dimensions: 17 x 33 cm. Bracket with hook: 21 x 17 cm.
