Silver bag bracket, Jan Rienstra, Sneek, 18th century

Large ^18th century Frisian bow bag from the silversmith Jan Rienstra from Sneek. (Foot 551) This silversmith was a master in 1771. He worked as a silversmith for about 30 years.

The silver bracket features all 4 evangelists: Matthew (with angel figure), Mark (with lion), Luke (with ox) and John (with eagle).

The fabric bag appears original, but is still in good condition. There are 3 fabric pockets on the inside. The silver ring has a fabric hook sewn to it in the same style as the bag, so it can be worn on a belt or hook.

On the back of the bracket is the name JL van Dijk and the year 1799.
