18th century silver bow bag made by Jacob Jans Boltjes (Voet 501) from Leeuwarden. This silversmith worked from 1760 to 1783.
The silver bracket shows a passionate Biblical scene in which the shepherds come to visit the baby Jesus. On the right is a figure with a cow and on the left is a figure with a basket in his hand. The evangelist Luke (depicted with a bovine) is depicted on the knob of the bracket.
The smooth back is engraved with the master's mark JB and the initials JWV. A silver jasseron chain is attached to the bracket.
The bead bag is in used condition.
Weight: 337.7 grams. Dimensions: 19 x 27 cm. Bag bracket: 11 x 18 cm.
