Silver bag bracket with bag hook, GL Schuiten, Groningen, 1810
Groningen silver bag bracket with bag hook. The silver bag bracket is attributed to Gerardus Lucas Schuiten, who worked in Groningen from 1798 to 1811 with master hallmark GS. The bag hook was made by Hayo van der Schoor from Winschoten. He worked from 1807 to 1811.
The bag bracket is also hallmarked with the crowned E (Étranger=foreign), the import and excise mark of the French Empire, used in 1809-1819, used in present-day Belgium, the Netherlands and other French-occupied territories. In addition, the bag bracket and hook are marked with the crowned O. (Dutch tax-free mark 1807)
The bag bracket features a passionate (Biblical?) representation of, among other things, a flute player and a tambourine (?).
