Heavy silver tobacco box with ribbed empire decor made by the silversmith Jean Anthoine de Haas from Amsterdam. He used the mark from 1796 to 1812.
He was already greatly appreciated in his time, so in 1816 he made the pipe brazier as part of the silver tableware for the wedding of the then Crown Prince Willem II and Anna Pavlovna. Several silver objects by him currently belong to the museum collection of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam.
The tobacco box has various hallmarks, the 10 for 10 pennies or a silver content of 833/1000, year letter d for 1811, city hallmark of Amsterdam, tax hallmark V and the master hallmark of the running hare to the left.
The tobacco box has the dimensions: 2.5 x 11.5 x 7 cm.
