Are you looking for a unique and historical piece of Dutch silverware for your collection or a stylishly set table?
This refined antique silver slice (suitable as a fish or cake server) is a beautiful example of early 19th-century craftsmanship.
The server was crafted in 1843 in Amsterdam by the renowned silversmith Kornelis van Zante (active between 1821 and 1846). The silver blade is beautifully pierced with an elegant geometric bar pattern and features fine hand-engraved floral decoration at the base. The server is fitted with an authentic, sleekly designed yellow/cream-colored bone handle that fits comfortably in the hand.
The object is fully and clearly hallmarked with the official Dutch silver marks:
  • Maker's mark: KVS below the number 98 in a square (K. van Zante)
  • Fineness mark: Walking Lion with a '2' (for 2nd grade silver, .833)
  • Assay office mark: Minerva head with the 'A' of Amsterdam
  • Date letter: I for the year 1843
Specifications:
  • Length: 290 mm (29 cm)
  • Weight: 100.5 grams (including handle)
