Silver cake server, J.M.

Silver cake server with beautiful image on the server of a female figure in Biedermeier style. The server was made by the company JM van Kempen & Zn, from Voorschoten, active from 1858 to 1924.

The cake server is marked with the master mark VK, second fineness mark, Minerva head and date letter Z for 1859.

The cake shovel is also marked in the box with the tax mark V for foreign large works. This mark was used between 1813-1893.

The silver handle may have been added later.
