Silver sugar table, P. Feyens, Leeuwarden, ca. 1745
Frisian silver sugar table with an oval contoured top made by silversmith Petrus Feyens or Feyyen (Voet B 101) from Leeuwarden. This silversmith was active between 1735 and ca. 1751. He became a master in 1735 and a chalice, communion cup and candlesticks have been handed down from his hand. Not much silver is known from him.
The table is provided with curl motifs with birds on the outer edge and a vase in the middle. The table top is hinged on a hollow cylinder, see also the photos. Curled legs with c volutes are attached under the cylinder.
The master stamp PF is applied to the inside of the cylinder.
The sugar table has an exceptional size and weight.
Light restoration traces can be seen on the edge of the sheet.
