Silver sugar cube tongs made by the company JM van Kempen & Zonen from Voorschoten, active from 1858 to 1924.
The pliers are marked with VK half moon, second grade hallmark, Minerva head and date letter k for 1920.
The pliers are beautifully decorated on both sides, see also the photos.
This is model "Empire" model no. 1069. Made between 1905 and 1924. Of this model 160 different cutlery pieces are known. Earlier pliers had legs with double-sided pattern.
