Are you looking for a refined piece of high-quality historical table silver? This beautiful antique silver sugar sifter spoon (also excellent for use as a wet fruit spoon or olive spoon) is a brilliant example of late 19th-century Dutch craftsmanship.
The spoon was made in 1892 in the renowned silver city of Schoonhoven by the respected silversmith Wed. A. Kuijlenburg. This antique collectible is in excellent condition and is an elegant addition to a stylishly set table or a unique silver collection.
This model immediately stands out due to the harmonious combination of various classic style elements. The bowl of the spoon is finely perforated, allowing sugar to be sprinkled evenly or excess juice to drain easily. The slender stem is partially twisted and flows into a sleek, timeless handle decorated with a subtle and refined beaded edge.
The firm Wed. A. Kuijlenburg from Schoonhoven is known for its high-quality small silver and serving pieces from the second half of the 19th century. After the silversmith's death, widows often continued the business under this name. The maker's mark AK above 47 with side stars is a sought-after and respected hallmark among collectors of antique Dutch silver.
The spoon is fully and very clearly marked with the official historical silver hallmarks:
  • Maker's mark: The factory mark AK above 47 with stars of the firm Wed. A. Kuijlenburg (Schoonhoven).
  • Fineness mark: The walking lion with a 2, the official hallmark for second grade Dutch silver (835/1000).
  • Assay Office Mark: The Minerva head with the office letter M, which stands for the assay office in Schoonhoven.
