Silver sprinkling spoon with an openwork-cut bowl, made by the silversmith Willem Roosen from Groningen. He worked from approximately 1795 to 1812.

The spoon has a beautiful floral engraving on the handle.

The tray is surrounded by a pearl rim.

The spoon is marked twice with the maker's mark R.

The spoon is in good condition.

Several objects by Willem Roosen are displayed in the Groningen Silver Room in Appingedam. They are listed and illustrated in the book of the same name, "De Groninger Zilverkamer" (The Groningen Silver Room). (Groningen, Philip Elchers 2017) we see six coffee spoons in Empire style and a brandy bowl in traditional Groningen style, both undated but according to the author(s) of the book they date from around 1800 (on p. 99 and p. 100 respectively).
