Are you looking for a breathtaking piece of mid-19th-century Dutch silverware?
This beautiful antique silver sugar sifter spoon is a masterful example of refined craftsmanship and historical elegance. Crafted by the renowned silversmith Hendrik van der Ree from Schoonhoven, this rare piece dates exactly to the year 1852. Hendrik van der Ree was a highly talented silversmith, active between 1841 and 1853, who is remembered for his opulent designs of exceptional quality.
The handle of this spoon is decorated with a rich, hand-engraved pattern of typical rococo scrolls, fluting, and floral motifs that feel fantastic in the hand. The spectacular, deep bowl is shaped like a gracefully undulating flower and is masterfully pierced (ajour cut) with a symmetrical pattern of fine holes and cloverleaf motifs. This refined fretwork was specifically designed to distribute powdered sugar or cinnamon evenly. The object is in excellent, authentic condition with a set of razor-sharp and deeply struck silver hallmarks.
