Silver caster made by John Charles Lowe from London. Active from 1898 to 1937.

John Charles Lowe was an active and respected London silversmith, primarily working from the well-known jewelry district of Hatton Garden. His active career spanned from around 1898 well into the 20th century (his hallmark has been seen on quality silver until after 1930/1960). Lowe specialized in small household silver, including tableware and table accessories such as salt cellars, mustard pots, and pepper casters. His Victorian silverware often features classic, elegant lines and expertly pierced work (fretwork silver) combined with blue glass liners.

The caster is hallmarked with the maker's mark J.C.L, city mark London, first standard mark, and date letter C for 1898.

The caster is in excellent condition.

Weight: 29.7 grams. Dimensions: 3 x 9 cm.
