Silver caster made by the silversmith Edward Hutton (William Hutton & Sons Ltd) from London / Birmingham. Active from 1876 to 1898.

Edward Hutton was the London representative and partner in the well-known firm William Hutton & Sons. The company's main base was in Sheffield, but Edward registered his personal EH mark in London to have his exclusive silver assayed there. The firm was known at the time for its exceptional craftsmanship. During this specific period (around 1891), they made many casters with opulent Victorian decorations, such as fluting, diamond patterns, or reliefs in the popular 'Indian' colonial style with floral motifs.

The caster is hallmarked with the first standard mark, London city mark, year letter Q for 1891, and maker's mark EA.

The caster is in good condition.

Weight: 37.7 grams. Dimensions: 3.3 x 9.5 cm.
