Dutch silver sauce spoon made by the silversmith J. van Wijk Jzn from Amsterdam, active from 1846 to 1875. As a son (Jzn), he took over the tradition and the workshop in Amsterdam in the mid-19th century.

His active period coincided with the heyday of the Biedermeier style. Pieces by his hand are therefore often richly decorated with typical diamond patterns, engraved floral motifs, and elegant scroll and leaf ornaments.

Marked with maker's mark JvW under a fish, second-grade mark, Minerva head, and year letter h for 1867.

The spoon is in beautiful condition.

Weight: 43.4 grams. Length: 17 cm.
