Silver snuff box, J. Kooiman / Schoonhoven, 19th century

Silver snuff or pill box with a biblical representation on the top of the 2 spies who returned with a bunch of grapes from the promised land. An allegorical scene on the back.

The box was made by J. Kooiman from Schoonhoven with the JK1 mark. He used this master hallmark from 1881 to 1893. Also hallmarked with the second quality hallmark and year letter b for 1886.

The box has been further inspected with a number of pseudo-marks to give the box an older appearance
