Silver dish made from a pipe stove. The pipe stove was made by Marcelis de Haan from The Hague. He was born in 1707 and died in 1790. From 1731 he was a master smith. His son Cornelis de Haan also entered the trade from 1755 and died in 1788. Both father and son used the rooster as a master mark.
The pipe stove is hallmarked with the city hallmark of The Hague, fineness hallmark 934/1000, year letter H for 1779 and master hallmark a rooster.
The stove stands on three legs decorated with leaf and flower motifs.
A number of items by these silversmiths are on display in the art museum in The Hague, among other places.
