Silver Louis XV dish made from a pipe stove. The pipe stove was made by Christiaan Ketel from Amsterdam. He was born in 1699 in Leeuwarden, was a silversmith from 1726 and worked until 1756.
Christiaan Ketel was overman six times between 1734 and 1747. He also acted as cashier. He was established on the Rokin.
The pipe stove is hallmarked with the city hallmark of Amsterdam, fineness hallmark 934/1000, date letter K for 1744, master's mark Ketel, release mark Utrecht (spear with liberty cap in 1795), re-hallmark 1807 (crowned O) and tax stamp 1814-1893 (crowned V).
Finally, the stove is marked with French marks: Rooster and Minerva head. (1812-1813)
The Louis XV style stove stands on three ball feet.
Not many items by Christiaan Ketel are known.
In accordance with its age, the stove has some signs of use.
