Silver cream spoon with a pear-shaped bowl, made by Hessel Gerrits Hanecroot (Voet 411) from Franeker. He was active from 1691 to 1725.
Hessel Hanecroot was also Ensign of the Noorderkwartier. He was also a coffee pourer for a while. There is also a deed known in which he is appointed as alderman from 1696.
His work is very rare.
The cream spoon also has a cup on the handle that is part of the thumb grip.
This is an early cream spoon, see a similar example Fig. 708, P. 228 of BWG Wittewaall. Without shield it can be dated between 1690 and 1720.
The spoon is hallmarked with the master stamp of a crowing rooster head.
Traces of earlier restoration are visible at the bottom of the container.
Weight: 24.9 grams. Dimensions: 4 x 9.5 cm.
