Silver pattipan made by silversmith Barend van Mecklenburg. He worked from 1779 to 1823.

He came from Leer (Germany). Van Mecklenburg was a prolific craftsman specializing in, among other things, magazines, tobacco jars, and coffee pots.

A pattipan is a small dish on which a teapot can be placed to prevent leaks onto the surface.

The pattipan stands raised on four claw feet and has an oval pearl rim. 

The dish is hallmarked with the city hallmark of Amsterdam, master's mark BVM, Dutch Lion, date letter G for 1791 and tax hallmark V and crowned O.

Provided with a letter monogram AF.

The pattipan is in good used condition.
