Silver pastry server made by the silversmith A. van der Beek from The Hague. He was active from 1893 to 1923.

This type of server was used at the time for serving pastries (such as ragout patties) and is characteristic of the refined table culture of the early 20th century.
The blade is beautifully openworked (pierced) with an asymmetrical weave, leaves, and flowers. This reflects the transitional period to Jugendstil / Art Nouveau, where natural, flowing forms were central.
The handle is richly cast with scrollwork (volutes) and floral motifs that extend to the finial.

The server is marked with the maker's mark AB1, second-grade silver mark, Minerva head mark, and year letter 'v' for 1905.

The pastry server is in excellent condition.

Weight: 49.7 grams. Dimensions: 6.5 x 20 cm.
