Silver Baltic spoon, also called captains spoon. Made by the silversmith Johann Michael Schlüter also called Schlieter. Active in Köningsberg, former East Prussia. Now known as Kaliningrad.

These spoons were often given as a business gift by shipbrokers or charterers to the captains who came to collect cargoes in the cities around the Baltic Sea. They are also called shipbrokers spoons.

The spoon is hallmarked with master hallmark Schlieter, city hallmark Köningsberg and date letter g for 1760. Also provided with a trembler stitch to test the silver content. On the back the spoon is provided with a Dutch tax hallmark stamp.

These spoons are part of the collections of various museums in the Netherlands. Due to the lively trade, many spoons ultimately ended up in the Netherlands.

The spoon is provided with the initials HK.

The spoon has signs of use (dents on the bowl).
