Large silver wet fruit spoon with an openwork bowl, made by the firm J.M. van Kempen & Zonen from Voorschoten. This renowned silver company used the master mark in question during the period 1858–1924.

This wet fruit spoon clearly shows the characteristic Neo-style / early Art Nouveau design, which Van Kempen perfected during this period.

The spoon features a kidney-shaped, scalloped bowl decorated with refined, hand-engraved floral motifs (flowers and leaves). The bowl is partly openwork (pierced à jour) to allow the juice from the fruit to drain.

The handle tapers into a characteristic spatula shape with a classic pearl rim along the sides, providing a perfect balance between elegance and grip.

The wet fruit spoon is hallmarked with the master mark VK half moon, Minerva head, second grade silver mark, and year letter R for 1901.

Weight: 80.8 grams. Length: 22 cm.
