For the discerning collector of top-quality Dutch silverware: an exceptionally heavy and rare antique silver compote spoon (fruit serving spoon / strawberry spoon) from the world-renowned royal silver factory J.M. van Kempen & Zonen from Voorschoten.
This generous model measures 22.1 cm in length and has an impressive weight of no less than 75.2 grams.
This particular serving piece excels in craftsmanship. The wide, oval bowl is beautifully pierced in the center with a very detailed motif of tendrils and leaves (inspired by the strawberry plant), surrounded by extremely fine engraving. The handle features a twisted mid-section interrupted by an exquisitely detailed rosette ornament, culminating in a classic handle.
Rare 1st Standard with Export Key
As beautifully and clearly visible in the detailed photo of the hallmarks, this spoon is crafted in the highest silver standard: the Standing Lion (1st standard silver, .925 Sterling silver). Unique is the authentic export key struck across the lion. This indicates that this luxurious spoon was specially made at the time for the international market or wealthy foreign clientele.
