Silver miniature waffle iron, P. van Somerwil I, Amsterdam, 1748

Rare 18th-century silver miniature of a waffle iron, crafted by the Amsterdam silversmith Pieter van Somerwil I. Van Somerwil was active between 1706 and 1753 and was known as a small-worker, specializing in so-called dollhouse items: finely crafted silver miniatures.

This finely crafted miniature bears the maker's mark of a tree by Pieter van Somerwil I, as well as the city mark of Amsterdam and the year letter O for 1748.

The object is a beautiful example of Dutch silver from the early 18th century and highly suitable for collectors of antique silver, miniatures, dollhouse items, or Dutch silverware.
