Are you a lover of historic dollhouse silver and looking for an extremely charming, top-quality teapot for your collection?
This beautiful antique silver miniature teapot (with a loose lid and elegantly curved spout) is a fantastic example of silversmithing from Schoonhoven.
Although the pot does not bear a maker's mark, based on the specific press molds, the characteristic edge finish, and the edges used, the model is attributed with absolute certainty to the renowned silver factory H. Hooijkaas from Schoonhoven, manufactured between 1906 and 1924.
The teapot is a feast for the eyes and modeled after an early 18th-century example with an elegantly sunken (concave) top surface. The oval body is fabulously embossed all around with lively old Dutch pastoral scenes of sitting and resting figures in nature. Even the top is fully decorated, including an embossing of a walker with a hat. The pot closes beautifully with its original loose lid, which is crowned with a delicate pointed knob.
The miniature features a very interesting and razor-sharp set of hallmarks that will make collectors' hearts beat faster:
  • Bottom (3x Pseudo-hallmarks): The bottom features three deeply struck fantasy hallmarks, including a double-headed eagle and a crowned letter 'B'. Hooijkaas intentionally applied these at the time to give the piece the allure and status of rare antique guild silver.
  • Neck Rim (Dutch Sword): The official old guarantee mark for second grade silver (.835) is perfectly stamped on the raised neck (see detail photo).
