Are you looking for a refined, richly decorated piece of Old Dutch small silver for your collection?
This beautiful antique silver miniature tea caddy (with an elegant C-shaped handle and lid) is a rare and atmospheric collector's item of high quality.
Although this caddy has remained unmarked apart from the sword mark, based on its refined pressed forms and specific iconography, the model is attributed with absolute certainty to the renowned silver factory H. Hooijkaas from Schoonhoven, manufactured in the period 1906-1924.
The tea caddy is embossed all around with detailed Dutch landscape scenes in relief: on one side a shepherd with his flock of sheep by a tree, on the other side a young man with an ear of corn or flower next to a richly decorated garden vase on a pedestal. The lid fits perfectly with the undulating profile of the caddy, shows a delicate relief of resting figures in nature, and features a characteristic pointed finial.

The miniature has been officially hallmarked on one of the most solid parts of its construction:
  • Dutch Sword Mark: The official old hallmark for second-grade silver (.835), perfectly clear and deeply struck on top of the silver handle.
