For collectors of exclusive Dutch miniature silver, we offer this beautiful, antique silver miniature of a Dutch smock mill.
This very refined miniature was handcrafted around the turn of the century (approx. 1900) by the well-known silversmith Jan Verhoogt from Hoorn (active between 1894 and 1936).
This model distinguishes itself with its impressive architecture. The mill is constructed as an authentic smock mill, complete with a hexagonal, diagonally engraved body, windows, a backward tail beam with chain, and a waving silver flag on the cap. The surrounding gallery (staging) is very beautifully crafted with an extremely fine twisted silver railing. The characteristic sails are, of course, movable and rotate smoothly. The entire piece rests stably on a sleek, hexagonal profiled base.
The object is in excellent, completely original antique condition with a beautiful subtle patina.
Clearly hallmarked on the base rim with Dutch silver marks:
  • Maker's mark: JV with hammer (Jan Verhoogt, Hoorn)
  • Fineness mark: The old silver mark 'sword' (second grade silver, 835/1000)
Specifications:
