Are you looking for a special and detailed piece of authentic Dutch craftsmanship for your collection?
This refined silver miniature of a man with a yoke and two buckets is a beautiful example of Frisian silversmithing from the first half of the 20th century.
The miniature was crafted with great attention to detail by the renowned Frisian silversmith J.S. Zwanenburg from Sneek, who was active between 1900 and 1953. The figurine depicts a yoked carrier on a beautifully engraved, diamond-shaped silver base plate.
The object has been officially hallmarked with the Dutch sword mark (for at least 835/1000 2nd grade silver) on the base plate. A special detail: an additional sword mark is also stamped on the bottom of one of the buckets. The base plate also contains the remnants of the maker's mark (JZ2), although this has unfortunately become partially faint/illegible due to the striking at the time (see detail photo). Nevertheless, this is a guaranteed authentic and recognizable work by this Frisian master.
