18th-century silver miniature of a coal shovel, made by the Amsterdam silversmith Pieter van Somerwil I. Van Somerwil worked between 1706 and 1753 and was known as a specialist in "poppengoed": finely crafted silver miniatures.

This finely crafted miniature bears the maker's mark tree of Pieter van Somerwil I. Since the miniature does not have a city hallmark, it was made before 1734.

The object is a beautiful example of Dutch silver from the early 18th century and is highly suitable for collectors of antique silver, miniatures, "poppengoed", or Dutch silverware.
