This rare, 19th-century silver miniature of an ornate coach with horse and coachman is an absolute eye-catcher for the serious collector.
The object is placed on a beautifully decorated base plate with a finely crafted zigzag edge. The scene excels in detail: the harness, the silver reins, the coachman with his whip in hand, and the elegantly rolling wheels of the coach.
What makes this piece extra fascinating for collectors are the three very sharply struck pseudo hallmarks on the base plate (including a crowned 'B' and a stylized coat of arms). These fantasy hallmarks were intentionally applied in the 19th century by skilled silversmiths to give the miniature the allure of early Dutch silver from the Golden Age.
