18th-century silver miniature of a boy with a kite, made by the silversmith Abraham van der Hoeff from Haarlem. He was active from 1705 to 1735.

The miniature is marked with the Haarlem city mark and the stag master's mark. Also provided with a tremolier stitch.

The master's mark did not resemble a stag; it was so worn that it started to look more like a fish. The guild then strongly advised him to replace his mark. (The Haarlem Silversmiths' Guild 1500-1800, A.J. Bruitsman, p. 77). From 1734, he again used a master's mark that more closely resembled a stag.

In good condition.

Weight: 24.6 grams. Dimensions: 3.5 x 4.5 x 5 cm.
