Silver miniature dovecote with mother and daughter, H. Preyer, Hoorn, 1904

Silver miniature of a dovecote with mother and daughter, attributed to the silversmith H. Preyer from Hoorn. He was active from 1896 to 1909.

The miniature is hallmarked with the second fineness mark, year letter 'u' for 1904, maker's mark H*P and Minerva head 'P' for Alkmaar. It also features two export keys.

The miniature also has 4 pseudo-hallmarks. This was done to make a 19th-century silver miniature appear as if it were 18th-century. There was a high demand for 18th-century Dutch silver, especially from England. Pseudo-hallmarks were used to meet this demand.

The miniature is in good condition.

It is a robust and heavy miniature, weighing 37.2 grams.
