This detailed silver miniature of a Frisian farmer's wife with a yoke and two milk pails is a magnificent example of traditional silversmithing from Sneek.
This beautiful object was made in the first half of the 20th century by the renowned Sneek silversmith J.S. Zwanenburg, who was active between 1900 and 1953.
The farmer's wife is placed on a rectangular base plate with beveled corners, which features a finely engraved checkerboard floor with alternating matte and glossy surfaces. The figurine stands out due to her beautiful traditional costume, including a traditional Frisian cap (hat). Two loose, extremely detailed milk pails with twisted silver handles hang from the yoke.

The miniature bears the official Dutch silver hallmarks that guarantee authenticity and quality:
  • Dutch Sword: The official hallmark for second grade silver (.835), sharply struck on the edge of the base plate.
  • Maker's Mark JZ2: The official maker's mark of J.S. Zwanenburg from Sneek, struck in one of the engraved squares on the floor.
