Silver knife handle with steel blade, Middelburg, 1771

^18th Century knife with a silver handle. The handle is crowned with a small dog (a sign of loyalty).

The master's mark is a lock plate. This was used by an unknown silversmith between 1765 and 1790 (J. de Bree, 628). The knife handle is also hallmarked with the Middelburg city hallmark and the date letter H for 1771.

The handle features a floral decoration.

The knife has a length of: 19.5 cm and a weight of: 35.7 grams.
