Silver knife in original leather sheath. The maker of the steel/iron blade is F(riedrich). Shepherd. His maker's mark; a shovel preceded by the brand name, based in Solingen, Germany.
In theory, the silver handle could also have been made in Germany. Although his company was a well-known producer for the Dutch market. Herder knives were introduced to the Malay Archipelago by the Dutch East India Company
Judging from the engraving on the handle, it was made in the late 18th, early 19th century. Empire style. The master's mark is difficult to decipher.
The leather case is dated 1819 and the owner's initials KK in stipple engraving. The sheath has seen its best days, but is probably original to the knife.
