Silver match lighter box, Horton & Allday, Birmingham, 1910

Silver permanent matchlighter or a match lighter box. A small model that was used by ladies as a precursor to the lighter.

The box is equipped with a pin that could be used to start a fire by dipping it in a flammable substance.

The box was made by Horton & Allday from Birmingham, active from 1885 to 1935.

Marked with master hallmark H&A, city hallmark anchor of Birmingham, walking lion for sterling silver and year letter L of 1910. Furthermore, with the text: Asprey London.
