Silver spoon with garnet, Suhr / Germany, 19th century.

Silver spoon from Schleswig-Holstein (Germany) with a faceted garnet on the handle.

This was typical for this region and is also described in the book Antique Silver by Manfred Meinz (Image 207).

This spoon has the master hallmark Suhr, which stands for the silversmith of the same name from Wilster.

The following text is engraved on the back: Fr. Fielken Vesauen vds Gevattina Anna Cicila Höven 1830. (?)

The spoon has a length of: 23.5 cm and a weight of: 45.8 grams.
