Silver spoon, three-lobed, made by the Zutphen silversmith Nicolaes or Claes Luessink Jr.
Father and son Luessink were active between ca. 1631 and 1720. They used the same master hallmarks. Everything before 1660 certainly belongs to Sr. After that they worked together for a while.
Nicolaes Luessink was born in 1636 and was assayer of the mint from 1686 and superintendent of Zutphen from 1705 to 1711.
The spoon has an applied profiled needle as a connection between the bowl and the handle.
Hallmarked with master mark CL, city mark of Deventer and date letter R for 1696.
Weight: 60.4 grams. Length: 19.5 cm.
