18th century silver throat buttons, made by the silversmith Jan Kamphuis from Zwartsluis, he was active in the third quarter of the 18th century.
Kamphuis worked in Zwartsluis, but had his silver hallmarked first in Meppel and later in Steenwijk. The hallmark JK is attributed to Jan Kamphuis because his son Jan Thomas Kamphuis used JTK and there is no other silversmith in Meppel or the surrounding area with the initials JK.
The throat buttons are marked with master mark JK and as a side mark a kind of house. This side mark can also be found on other work of his.
The buttons have a diameter of: 2.1 cm.
Weight: 7.4 grams.
