Silver candy dish, Amsterdam, 19th century

Silver candy cup or almond cup on four claw feet and with hinged eyelets. The openwork contoured edge is decorated with curls and leaf motifs.

Hallmarked with the city mark of Amsterdam, the year letter Z and a well-known master hallmark. These are pseudo hallmarks (Citroen #429 and #387) to give the box an older appearance.

In the 19th century there was a great demand, especially from England, for antique silver. In this way the demand was met. It is still real silver and in the meantime these objects have also become antique again.
