Silver ice spoon or ice scoop made by the silversmith Pieter Lodewijk Uriot from Amsterdam. He was active from 1816 to 1865.

The spoon is hallmarked with his maker's mark PLU, second assay mark, Minerva head, and year letter E for 1839.

This rare ice scoop comes from a period when consumption ice was a luxury delicacy for the wealthy bourgeoisie, meaning this type of specific tableware was produced in relatively small numbers.

The recognizable, broad rectangular bowl with raised edges is specially designed to provide stability when scooping and serving compact frozen ice or ice cream cakes of that time.

The bowl measures 4.3 x 4.3 cm.
