Frisian silver occasional spoon, made by the silversmith Obbe Ydema from Sneek, (Voet 543/544). Obbe Ydema. Born in Dokkum. Married Gerbrig Reins Regnery (daughter of Sneek silversmith Rein Clases Regnery). Citizen of Sneek on 30 June 1741. Master in 1741. He worked until 1773.

He is mainly known for brandy bowls and other large silverware; Elias Voet mentions several examples from the same period. .

The spoon is marked with the master's mark OY under a crown. Also assayed with the 'bijltje' (axe) mark (1860-1927)

The bowl bears the initials: AD 1771.

The spoon is topped with Arlecchino, known in English as Harlequin. He is one of the most iconic characters of the Italian commedia dell'arte, a form of improvisational theatre that emerged in the 16th century.

In excellent condition.
