Silver birth spoon with a ship as a crowning achievement. The spoon was made by Paulus Arnoldus van der Beek. This silversmith worked successively in Workum, Franeker and The Hague from 1854 to 1909.
The spoon is hallmarked with the master hallmark of the vdB passer, second grade hallmark, minerva head and year letter k for 1869.
The bowl of the spoon is engraved: 'Gift to Bruisjen Ottes Boustra born: February 19, 1871'.
