Silver birth spoon, S. van Ommeren, Leeuwarden, 18th century

Frisian silver birth spoon made by the silversmith Sikke van Ommeren (Voet B 113) from Leeuwarden. Born in 1726 and died in 1779. He was master from 1751.

The spoon has a sailing ship as its crowning glory.

The spoon is inspected with the SvO master mark on the back of the container.

Furthermore, the container has the inscription: Atje K….. den 2 Juny 1768.

A restoration has previously taken place on the forecastle. There is also a crack in the box of approximately 5 mm.

The container has a rat tail connection to the handle.

Weight is: 45.8 grams. Length: 17.5 cm.
