Frisian silver birth spoon, made by Age Binses Looxma (Foot 532) from Sneek. This silversmith was active from 1720 to 1759.

Age Binses Looxma was also mayor and from 1735 to 1752 inspector general of Friesland.

The spoon has a double twisted stem (see Dutch small silver by Wttewaall, page 300). The spoon is crowned with a three-masted ship.

The spoon is marked with the master's mark cloverleaf.

Engraved on the back of the bowl: Friday the 4th of March Jacob Sieses 1774 was born.

Jacob Sieses from Langezwaag married Antje Douwes from Langezwaag on June 5, 1803, in the Mennonite church in De Knipe.

The spoon was therefore engraved later than the silversmith's period of activity.

The spoon is in good condition.

Weight: 47.1 grams. Length: 19 cm.
